I don't know if anyone has come across this before, but I have an issue with the engine trying to cut out as the revs drop low when stopped (say at traffic lights). Its an automatic 2.5 litre, and only happens once the engine has warmed up. Also to make the fault even more interesting it doesn't happen all the time!

I currently have a workaround which is not long term but works, I slow to almost a complete halt then use the handbrake to stop completely. This leaves my right foot free to press down slightly on the gas so to stop the revs falling below 800 rpm.

This is really starting to irritate me and my garage (not a Bongo specialist) was left scratching his head when I described the symptoms.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi, not sure of cause but if it helps its the same engine as a Ford Ranger which might throw up some more ideas on internet or a ford garage if you can afford their hourly rates! good luck

First thing to do is run the vehicle with the fuel cap off or very loose.

Change and clean All filters.

Check Injector pump and fuel suction lines for leaks or drawing air.

Check all vacuum pipes and or hoses.
